My name is Juan Enrique Armijos Chila. I was born on October 21, 2005, in Ecuador, and I am 19 years old. I’m the eldest of three siblings. My family has always been my foundation my father, Segundo Armijos, and my mother, Liliana Chila, raised me with strong values of discipline, commitment, and integrity. I have a 13-year-old sister and a 7-year-old brother, and I take pride in being their role model.

School Years: Dual Education with a Clear Purpose

I began my academic journey at Escuela Mixta Guadalupe Fernández, and later continued my studies at Colegio de Bachillerato Alejandro Castro Benítez, where I earned a technical diploma as a High School Graduate in Industrial Mechanics. But my education wasn’t limited to the technical field—at the age of 12, I joined a Music Conservatory, pursuing my passion for the arts. In 2023, I proudly graduated as a Bachelor in Music, combining precision and creativity in my education.

A Calling to Serve: The Fire Department as a School of Life

With a strong desire to serve others and prepare for emergency situations, I joined the El Guabo Fire Department, where I earned my first rank. I trained in Prehospital Care (APH), Vertical Rescue, and Wildland Firefighting. These experiences helped me develop both physically and mentally, reinforcing my sense of duty, teamwork, and courage.

Present: Military Training and a Path Forward

Currently, I’m in my first year at the Grumetes School of the Ecuadorian Navy (ESGRUM). This new chapter has been both demanding and deeply fulfilling. My daily routine begins at 5:20 AM with morning reveille, followed by physical training. Afterward, we shower and continue with our assigned cleaning tasks, such as maintaining the lower deck and other designated areas.

Academic classes run from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by lunch and then more classes until 4:30 PM. Our day often ends with either military drills or sports training, which strengthen not just the body, but also our discipline and leadership skills.

Beyond the Uniform

Outside of my studies and duties, I have personal passions that keep me grounded. My favorite dish is shrimp ceviche, and I love playing basketball whenever I get the chance. It helps me stay active and connected with my competitive spirit.

Every stage of my life has been part of a journey built on values, skills, and service. From music to mechanics, from classrooms to the fire station, and now aboard a naval career, I am forging a path defined by commitment, honor, and purpose.
